CANDLE CARE

By following the below guidelines, you’re guaranteed to get the most out of your favourite scents. Flickr Candles are hand-poured using soy wax, which is both biodegradable and free from pesticides.

• Burn your candle for a minimum of three hours, or until the wax has melted to the edge of the glass. This helps to imprint the candle’s memory and prevent an uneven burn.

• Keep your candle burning gently by trimming the wick to ¼ inch. A wick that’s too long will smoke and burn faster, while a wick that’s too short won’t burn as well. A beautiful even burn is all about balance.

• Let your candle cool before relighting, and (of course) before cutting the ball at the end of the wick.

• Maintain regular trimming to help keep wick ‘mushrooming’ at bay.

• To avoid a larger flame, never burn your candle for longer than four hours.

• Is your candle creating an uneven burn? Simply adjust the wick back to the centre of the jar, or closer to the side that needs more heat.

• If black discolouration occurs inside the jar, simply wipe away with a damp cloth.

• Never leave your candles unattended, and always keep away from drafts, children and pets.

• Always place your candles on a heat-resistant surface that’s stable and level.

• It’s normal for the soy wax to change in colour and develop a subtly dusty layer over time. This won’t affect the burn or scent of your beloved candles.

• Once your final burn is complete, you can bring your vessel back into Flickr candles to have it refilled.

CANDLE CARE TOOLS KITS

Flickr tools are designed to enhance the life and quality of your Flickr candles. No self-respecting candle enthusiast should find themselves without this sleek trio in their repertoire. Wick trimmers these curiously-shaped scissors can be used with candles of all sizes. By simply snipping the excess wick, you enable a more stable candle burn.

A snuffer is an unsung hero in any candle care kit, a snuffer can dramatically influence the life and performance of your candle. When blowing on a candle to extinguish it, your force can cause the wick to move around in the molten wax, resulting in an uneven burn. You may also splash wax over your candle, or experience excess smoke and wick smouldering.

The wick dipper is used by gently dipping your wick into the wax after your candle has been snuffed, you’ll be able to continue enjoying a diffused scent without the interference of smoke and smouldering. This light layer of wax that forms over the wick will help protect it until the next burn.

Simply use your wick dipper to retrieve and straighten it out. Thoughtful use of a wick dipper will help keep your candles at their box-fresh best before and after each burn.

Cleaning and storage to maintain the integrity of your tools, simply clean under warm water and dry them in preparation for next use.

In addition, you’ll experience:

• A clean burn, avoiding dark smoke

• A clean glass, avoiding smoky candle jars

• Ample fragrance diffusion, for a more expansive scent experience

• A safer burn (a longer wick creates a higher flame, which can be dangerous)

• The prevention of wick mushrooming snip the excess (the ‘bent’) part of your wick when the candle is at room temperature, either before or after burning.

Do not snip when the candle is lit. Avoid cutting too short, as your wick will drown.
